The Family Structure in Islam
by Hammudah Abd al-Ati

The author deals with a wide array of topics touching on religion, set roles and the family, law, and social change, all of which are basic issues in the structure of social life and arouse the strongest feelings among people. The author approaches these disputed questions with very high qualifications: a deep, personal familiarity with Islam and a scholar’s knowledge of it as well as of
modern social science. He considers how religious inspiration, law and social conditions during the first four centuries of Islam together shaped ideas about what the family system of Muslims should become. He squarely confronts
the most difficult issues of scholarship and morals concerning Islam, such as plural marriage, modes of divorce, social equality in mating, and “sensuousness”. He not only sheds light on these old questions but asks us to contemplate why they continually arise.

Definitive Encounters: Islam, Muslims and the West
by Muzaffar Iqbal

The author explores various dimensions of Islam and studies some of the more hidden aspects of the encounter between Islam, Muslims and modern Western civilization. These encounters are viewed from the perspective of sacred history, vieweing events as a continuum of Adamic story. Seen through this prism, the contemporary global conflicts gain a degree of depth that is often lacking in secular approaches.

What is Sufism?
by Martin Lings

The title of this book has been given some dubious and suspect answers in recent years as far as the Western world is concerned. The rapidly expanding interest in Sufism brings the need for a reliable introductory book: introductory in the sense it requires no special knowledge on the part of the reader, and reliable in that it is not written any more simply than the truth will allow. Part of our Mini Intro Series, a book of this size for a theme so broad and complicated is bound to be summary. But after all, "Sufism", as the author puts it, "is a touchstone, an implacable criterion which reduces everything elese, escept its own equivalents, to a flat surface of two dimensions only, being itself the real dimension of height and depth."

A Geographical History of the Qur'an
by Sayyid Muzaffaruddin Nadwi
New edition

The most difficult task in respect of ancient history is dates and identification of names. First written in Urdu, 'Ard al-Qur'an', this book is a result of extensive research and reference of old sources in examining the geo-historical background of the Qur'an, and ultimately proving the authenticity of many of the historical accounts in it.

The Message of the Qur'an
by Muhammad Asad
Hardbound, New Improved Edition

This translation and in-depth commentaries on the Qur'an by the late author is one of the few authoritative exegesis of the Quran by modern scholars. Fiqh al-Sunnah
Sayyid Sabiq
Hardbound, New Improved Edition

The original three-volume Fiqh As-Sunnah by Sayyid Sabiq is the first writing of its kind bringing together the four schools of thought. Fiqh as-Sunnah is a comprehensive treatment of Fiqh matters and has been translated into dozens of languages. Every Fiqh ruling in the book goes back to the Qur'an and Sunnah and Sabiq dealt with all four schools of thought objectively, with no preferential treatment to any. This new edition being prepared is not only a reprint, but an improvement in both contents and presentation.
